About my patterns

All of the patterns on this site are designed and written up by me using UK terms. I try to make the patterns as easy as possible, but for any new techniques (such as short rows or intarsia) I give details instructions, and add links and/or photos. Great for anyone new to knitting.  Also I use the most popular yarns such as double knitting, aran or 4ply, which are easily available.

A note about yarn.  As these items are small, even the slightest difference of thickness in yarn can make a difference in the size of the finished garment.  So please check your tension and use a small/larger needle if needed.  Although I have given a guide to sizing, check your knitting as you go, as teddy bears and dolls come in a variety of shapes and sizes

If you have any queries please let me know either in the comments or by contacting me. I would love to hear from you.

Also, please don't copy the patterns to use for financial gain. And it you put photos online of finished items I would appreciate a mention.

Thanks for visiting my site
Linda

  1. Hi Linmary,
Would you please tell me what size bear the 'teddy knitted dress and shoes' fits.
My bear is 13 inches tall and suspect the bear this dress pattern is designed for is considerably bigger.
    Kind regards,
    Rhea

  5. Love the teddy dress just perfect for what I want the trouble is my knitted bear is only 9 inches and this would be too big is there any way of making it smaller. I am not good with patterns I'm afraid.

    1. The only things I can suggest is that you use a smaller needle, perhaps a 3.25 and finer yarn such as 4ply, and adjusting the length. This would be easier than faffing about altering stitch counts. hope this helps

    1. I haven't stopped since knitting the football kit as mentioned above. Now I have my 'own' Annabell so my other grandkids always have dollies and teddies to dress up. I have also acquired a 'smaller' Annabell, shes 13". Would you advise maybe knitting 4 ply and size 10 needles 'Annabell' patterns to fit this one???? Thanks for all the great pattern ideas. Fully stocked wardrobe!!

    2. To knit for a smaller doll I would just use the Annabell patterns but reduce the rows a bit. Just keep checking on your doll as you go.

    1. Hi
Im' sorry your partner's having problems with the pattern. As the items for baby dolls are so small I usually try to knit the yoke in once piece so there's not so much seaming.
I've looked at the pattern where it says join pieces and there are clearly two sleeves

On left hand needle, with right side facing slip sts of left front, sleeve, back, sleeve and right front working yarn should be at the beg of row (133sts)

So I'm not sure what has gone wrong

  11. I've just purchased the pattern for teddy Christmas jumper from Lovecrafts and am knitting the heart jumper first. I then noticed details of your website on the pattern so thought I'd take a look. Thank you so much for the build-a-bear size clothes, my son, and his bear will love them.

  13. Thank you for the free Barbie patterns. I am anxious to try them for Elsa/Anna dolls. I appreciate the note about tension and yarn as I tried one other pattern and they turned out too large.
